Since its inception, ;login: is a printed magazine that has a digital version. in the previous two decades it was USENIX's monthly publication, UNIX News. Since its beginning around 45 years ago, the magazine has served as a medium through that the USENIX community has access to useful tools as well as research and other events from one another. Beginning in 2021, ;login: will no longer be a formal published print magazine as we've known it in the past and will instead be reimagined as a digital publication with increased possibilities for interaction between authors and readers. Since USENIX was made an open access publisher of research papers in 2008, ;login: was our sole source of content behind a membership paywall. To keep with our commitment to open access and open access, all log in: content will be available to everyone once we make this change. Only USENIX members who are at least sustainer levels, as well as students will be able to access interactivity features. Rik Farrow, the current editor of the magazine, will continue to provide leadership for the overall content offered in ;login:, which will be posted on our website regularly throughout the year. As we plan to launch this new format, we're creating an editorial board composed of members from the USENIX community to manage content, meaning that this will be a formally peer-reviewed publication. This new format will permit members of the community to be part of the process of logging in and engage in its content. In addition to writing content, we are open to other ideas of what you might want to experience.
